Tragedy struck in 1977, when flying to a gig in Baton Rouge, Ronnie Van Zant, Steve Gaines and his sister, backing singer Cassie Gaines, as well as their road manager, perished in the crash, leaving the surviving band members severely injured. However, the band's story didn't end. Rising again a decade later, Lynyrd Skynyrd entered a new era with fresh energy, new members, and a renewed commitment to honouring the legacy of those they lost.
