Who is Born At Midnite and why should it matter to you? Born At Midnite are not your garden variety drag and drop producers, they are a vertically integrated song machine. Employing samplers, fake drums, tape machine, and in-house art, all at a work-from-home pace; for the last half decade the Montreal duo have been casually careening towards ‘coolest band around’ status. Playing into –, whilst poking fun at –, our era’s omnipresent narcissism and self indulgence the group stitch together an unsponsored sort of ‘product-placement-punk’.Instead of overworked sob stories for short term gains, BAM prefers the ‘pose and get chose’ method. Since 2020 they have been drip feeding songs to an ever growing following of discerning teenagers and in-the-know retail employees, which in the fall of 2025 culminated in their first singles compilation “Every Single Time”.So tell me what is up with their debut record? What is the inverse of a wish that comes with a terrible curse? It is something that nobody asked for but protects from eternal damnation; It’s ‘Eternal BAM Nation’ the long awaited yet quickly constructed debut record from Born At Midnite. And you know these eleven and a half songs are stabbing at the heart of the matter.The first single ‘Smash’ is a two minute anthem in two parts. It begins with a hyper petty, hyper speed diss track dedicated to a loser ex-boyfriend. It ends in a drowsy celebration hanging with your friends in the park after dark. It’s post egg, it’s post chain. Something for every punk. ‘Wash You Out’ condemns overintellectualizing primal thoughts to a dreamy and longing beat. An ever so slight garage feel and a y2k halftime chorus seal the deal. After a half decade of party experience, they had no choice but to “Publish papers on going out, conclusion: it was bumpin.”‘Pt. III (ft. Fireball Kid)’ is a full on liability machine. Today many people lament the loss of the third place, the bowling alley, community hall, horse races, this track celebrates realness in multitudes at the final location on a night out. “Part 3, you just met the real me.” ‘I Haven’t Forgotten You’ is highly repeatable, an unconcerned down tempo, two chord introspection about times with an old friend - with a mega mesmerizing Judy Tzuke sample for the chorus to boot. I’d write something about every song but it seems like they are all pretty good and different which would require much more work on my part. So, whether you’re in the inner circle of the fold or have escaped from reality, this sh*t gonna pound on those wimpy little ear holes.Who’s in the band?Amery Sandford is a visual artist and easy going pop songstress.
