A lot can happen in a few years. For DJ Plead's Jarred Beeler that means making a whole new album, throwing it away, then releasing something else entirely. Gleaned from a folder of 120 demos and sketches made between 2023 and 2025, Please is a cool composite of the Lebanese-Australian producer's distinctive musical palette blending the techno, house, and dub of the club with the dabke, mijwiz, and shaabi keys of a Levantine dancing circle.

Please follows 2020's Relentless Trills. Dropped as part of Boomkat's Documenting Sound series, that release was a revelation that went beyond the high-intensity hard-drum bangers dropped via Livity Sound, Nervous Horizon, and his own Sumac label into a more ambient spray of his trademark percussion and serpentine maqam melodies. Please is an even more intimate proposition, with its cover featuring a cropped shot of Beeler holding a cup of co?ee in one hand, belongings in the other. Phone, keys, pills, Tiger Balm. It's a deeply personal depiction of the everyday that echoes the unhurried emotional resonance of the album's track listing. A mournful ambient follows the embellished trundle of "Seven Eight, Too Late" as it's haunted by downtempo atmospherics. The gently grooved piano, guitar, and bass of closer "Tra?c" cascade with the organic delay and decay of passing space and time.

"I'm not fully comfortable releasing these tracks. I do feel vulnerable," says Beeler, who credits Smalltown Supersound label boss Joakim Haugland as vital to realizing Please. "I doubt that without him pulling them out of the folder those demos would ever have been heard by anyone." But aren't we lucky he did? The album's sweltering keyboard improvisations on highlights like "Right On Time," "Pa700," and "Open Era," are set to a melt of wavering found sounds and microtonal runs. "Some of the songs are also just me playing the keyboard on top of a loop I've made. There's not much production or polish to hide behind," explains Beeler. "Those tracks in particular feel quite raw."

These tender steps outside of Beeler's aesthetic comfort zone of control and function toward unfiltered exposure produce an exciting tension. Please expertly approaches that obscure point between the detached and the sentimental, where the mundane, the specific, and the lightly absurd meet the deeply felt and genuinely moving.

Shipping, Returns & Cancellations

SHIPPING:

We ship Monday through Friday. Orders typically ship within 24-72 hours. Tracking is sent to the email you provide at check out and may take a few days to become active.

Any items ordered with Pre-Orders will be held until they can all ship together. If you need in stock items faster please order them seperately.

RETURNS:

Returns are only accepted on damaged or defective items. Return requests must be made within 7 days of delivery. Please save the original packaging.

If you own a Crosley, Victrola or any other lower end turntable that has no ability to adjust the weight of the tone arm and are experiencing skipping on a new record please try the "Penny Trick". Simply place a penny on the top of the cartidge and it should provide enough weight to resolve your issues. While a great entry to the world of vinyl we do recommend upgrading to a turntable with a tone arm that can be adjusted as this issue will randomly occur. We do not take returns in these cases.

Resellers: If you are buying from us for resale we honestly don't mind. However, please don't panic if something you bought suddenly isn't flipable for more money and then try to return stuff to us because you feel like you made a bad investment choice. Despite our outsized reputation we're a small shop, not amazon. Absorbing these costs adds up on places like ours. Plus a little patience always tends to pay off.

CANCELLATIONS:

Due to an increasing number of payment processors no longer returning transaction fees to sellers on cancelled orders and rising labor costs any orders or pre-orders that need to be cancelled before shipment will be assessed a 5% cancellation/restocking fee on the order total including shipping and any other taxes or fees associated with the order.

Thank you for your understanding.
