“We Are the World” was originally recorded on January 28, 1985 as a groundbreaking musical collaboration aimed at raising funds and awareness for famine relief in Ethiopia. Nine months later, Hands Across America brought together one of the largest community participation events in American history to support hunger and homelessness efforts. U.S.A. for Africa’s legacy endures today, with over $100 million contributed to humanitarian and community-driven initiatives across Africa and the U.S. through all efforts to date. This exclusive vinyl would continue that legacy.

To commemorate forty years since its original release, U.S.A. for Africa is planning a special 7” vinyl release of the newly digitally remastered “We Are the World” specifically for RSD Black Friday, with proceeds continuing to support the organization’s ongoing humanitarian mission. Beyond the cultural significance of the song itself, the charitable nature of the project provides a strong foundation for the release. The combination of the milestone anniversary and the fact that this would mark the first reissue since the original 1985 release makes it a highly collectible and meaningful offering for both longtime fans and new audiences.

“We Are the World” remains one of the most recognizable and culturally impactful songs ever released, featuring iconic artists including Michael Jackson, Lionel Richie, Stevie Wonder, Bruce Springsteen, Diana Ross, Cyndi Lauper, and many more. The newly digitally remastered version has already generated over 3.5M streams since its release in November 2025, while the broader U.S.A. for Africa catalog has surpassed 638M streams overall to date. Over the last nine months, U.S.A. for Africa has also seen nearly 400% aggregate social audience growth, alongside multiple viral moments generating millions of views and consistently strong engagement across across Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, and YouTube. We are currently in touch with several participating artists’ teams and estates, including Lionel Richie, Kenny Rogers, Diana Ross, and Cyndi Lauper, and would work closely with them to support and amplify the RSD release.

Shipping, Local Pick Up, Returns & Cancellations Policies.

SHIPPING:

We ship Monday through Friday. Orders typically ship within 24-72 hours. Tracking is sent to the email you provide at check out and may take a few days to become active.

Any items ordered with Pre-Orders will be held until they can all ship together. If you need in stock items faster please order them seperately.

LOCAL PICK UP POLICY:

Due to a large amount of unclaimed local pick ups over the years we have updated our policy. Any orders that remain unclaimed after 90 days from the initial "ready for pick up" notification will be considered abandoned and returned to our system without refund. If you are having issues picking up your order within this time frame please contact us via orders@1234gorecords.com. If you need your order shipped we can easily do so for an added shipping fee.

RETURNS:

Returns are only accepted on damaged or defective items. Return requests must be made within 7 days of delivery. Please save the original packaging.

If you own a Crosley, Victrola or any other lower end turntable that has no ability to adjust the weight of the tone arm and are experiencing skipping on a new record please try the "Penny Trick". Simply place a penny on the top of the cartidge and it should provide enough weight to resolve your issues. While a great entry to the world of vinyl we do recommend upgrading to a turntable with a tone arm that can be adjusted as this issue will randomly occur. We do not take returns in these cases.

Resellers: If you are buying from us for resale we honestly don't mind. However, please don't panic if something you bought suddenly isn't flipable for more money and then try to return stuff to us because you feel like you made a bad investment choice. Despite our outsized reputation we're a small shop, not amazon. Absorbing these costs adds up on places like ours. Plus a little patience always tends to pay off.

CANCELLATIONS:

Due to an increasing number of payment processors no longer returning transaction fees to sellers on cancelled orders and rising labor costs any orders or pre-orders that need to be cancelled before shipment will be assessed a 5% cancellation/restocking fee on the order total including shipping and any other taxes or fees associated with the order.

Thank you for your understanding.
