Under Taylor's guidance, Atomic Opera emerged as one of the most intriguing bands to come out of that scene.

Rather than simple leftovers, these recordings reveal Atomic Opera exploring the full range of their musical identity-groove-driven heaviness, adventurous arrangements, and the deliciously stacked vocal harmonies that linked them to fellow Houston innovators like King's X and Galactic Cowboys. The material eventually surfaced in 1999 as the CD-only release Alpha & Oranges on Massive Groove Productions, offering fans a deeper glimpse into the band's creative momentum during the For Madmen Only era. Now, for the first time ever, Alpha & Oranges arrives on vinyl.
