In the process, he’s amassed a quietly impressive catalogue of solo releases as KH, and a smattering of much-played gems alongside Seiki Fukada as HF International. Over the next couple of months, Ubiquity is partnering with Hiraiwa to deliver a pair of must-have seven-inch singles, starting with a much-requested reissue of HF International’s sensational 2015 cover of Hall \u0026amp; Oates classic ‘I Can’t Go For That (No Can Do)’. The track has been a favourite of in-the-know Balearic selectors, Colleen ‘Cosmo’ Murphy included, for 11 years; now, thanks to Ubiquity, it will be released outside of Japan for the very first time. As cover versions go, it’s undoubtedly special. Sun-soaked and effortlessly tactile, with summery jazz guitar licks and supremely sweet lead vocals wrapping around a languid reggae-disco groove, HF International’s take on ‘I Can’t Go For That’ is a timeless contemporary classic with a pleasingly nostalgic twist. Turn to side B for the most celebrated revision of the cover to date, an ‘Extended Disco Dub’ interpretation by storied producer and Seeds \u0026amp; Ground label founder Karoue Inoue. Stretching out the track while subtly reframing the groove in a rolling dub disco style, Inoue drags the cut closer to peak-time dancefloors while brilliantly showcasing the quality of HF International’s original instrumentation.
