Its animating spirit is Philip K. Dick's "pink light experience" of 1974, in which the author reported receiving a transmission from a vast, alien intelligence: information dense, ancient, and overwhelming. Dunn approaches this both as a concept and as a compositional logic — music that arrives in layers, collapses, reconstitutes, and refuses resolution.

Across four pieces, Dunn deploys an arsenal of vintage synthesizers — Korg MonoPoly, Korg MS-20, PPG Wave, CS-80, Juno-60, Waldorf Strings, Fizmo — alongside an exceptional ensemble cast. Spoken word by Jim Jarmusch (drawn from PKD's prose) and Laima Leyton (drawing from Robert Graves's Time) anchor two of the four pieces in language without explaining them. The album moves from orchestral chamber writing through electroacoustic abstraction to a final piece — Ayn — that opens into ecstatic jazz, featuring Cyro Baptista, Briggan Krauss, Henry Fraser, Charmaine Lee, and Robert Aiki Aubrey Lowe. True electroacoustic writing in the fullest sense: spectral, physical, and wide open.

Produced, mixed, and recorded by Randall Dunn at Circular Ruin, April 2026. Mastered by Ben Greenberg. Dolby Atmos mixes by Ben Greenberg. Lacquer cut by Paul Gold at Salt Mastering. Front and back cover artwork by Steve Rude. Executive produced by Charmaine Lee.

street date 11/6/2026

1-2-3-4 Go!
